Jung_E (Korean: 정이), stylised as JUNG_E, is a 2023 South Korean science fiction film written and directed by Yeon Sang-ho, starring Kang Soo-yeon, Kim Hyun-joo and Ryu Kyung-soo.[3] The film features the final film appearance of Kang Soo-yeon who passed away ahead of its release.[4] It premiered on January 20, 2023 on Netflix

Jung_E portrays a desolated Earth in the 22nd century that is no longer habitable due to climate change where humans are forced to live in man-made shelters built in space. As the humans settle down in around 80 of those shelters, shelter No. 8, 12 and 13 declared themselves as the Ardian Republic and began attacking earth and other shelters, resulting in a civi war between the Allied Force and Ardian Republic.

Captain Yun Jung-yi is a legendary mercenary of Allied Forces who led her team to countless successful missions against Ardian Republic. She has a little daughter Yun Seo-hyun who sufferers from lung tumor and hence is the reason why Jung-yi became a mercenary who fights in the war. The day Seo-hyun gets the surgery, Jung-yi goes to one last mission which she fails and ends up in a coma. Her family (apparently her mother) is induced to by Kronoid – institute in charge of developing AI technologies, to agree to clone her brain, promising that they will cover Jung-yi's treatments, her daughter's education and living expenses.

35 years later in 2194, Kronoid clones Jung-yi's brain to develop an AI mercenary, code-named JUNG_E. Dr.Yun Seo-hyun, Jung-yi's grown-up daughter serves as the team leader of research project JUNG_E, with the purpose of leaving Jung-yi as a hero rather than a failure in the history. Researchers at Kronoid has copied Jung-yi's brain data and AI JUNG_E is operated in accordance with the collected data. Through simulations of Jung-yi's final mission, they try to extract combat memory data that could be used to develop an exceptional combat AI. Just like Captain Jung-yi failed her last mission, AI Jung_E also fails in the every simulation of the last mission, making the project nonprogressive. Meanwhile, Seo-hyun learns that the cancer she had in the childhood has expanded again and she only has three months left to live. She also learns through the chairman of Kronoid that there is no need to develop combat AI anymore because Adrian Rebuild and Allied Forces are entering a treaty and company has decided to focus household services with AI. After the last simulation of project JUNG_E, Seo-hyun escapes the facility with AI JUNG_E while other combat AIs and forces start chasing them. Seo-hyun who gets shot during the chase, urges AI JUNG_E to leave her and survive. JUNG_E escapes and the film ends as JUNG_E looks around on top of a rock in a mountain range.
